Often, women have no access to financial, formal, educational, or social support systems. Indian homemakers' artisanal skills can be harnessed to form a social entrepreneurship model that has the potential to create economic opportunities for homemakers while also promoting traditional Indian products and culture. We examined challenges in establishing a For-Profit sustainable social enterprise to empower homemakers to sell products according to their skills. Our primary focus was on selling perishable food in the pilot run of the initiative.
