This report aims at studying the successful Chinese SEZ model in the context of its overall economic policy to identify features to be incorporated into the current Indian model to ensure success. The first part of the report briefly touches the SEZ experiences in Korea and Mauritius before detailing the evolution of the Chinese SEZ model. The second part of the report traces the evolution of the Indian SEZ model and the current SEZ policy in India. A comparative study with the Chinese SEZ model has been carried out to identify features to be incorporated in the Indian model. The last part of the report focuses on Gujarat's experiences with SEZ and its current SEZ policy.
