  • SP 1997/579
Summary: The objective of the study was to do an empirical data analysis on the Indian stock markets for two purposes namely doing a sectoral analysis to formulate an investment strategy for a fund manager of a sector fund and establishing the effect of ratios like P/E, P/BV, plow back ratio and ROE on stock returns. The analysis is based on the stock market data of the last 4 years viz; 1993-1996. The criteria used to evaluate the performance of scrips or industry set is the change in market capitalisation of the scrip or industry as the case may be. The market capitalisation and other financial figures have been adjusted for any changes in the equity capital of companies because of any public/rights/bonus issues during the period of the study.
