There has been a dramatic revolution in Indian television. Satellite and cable TV have increased the number of television channels that are available. This has increased the investment of millions of rupees into television business and get into every aspect of the business. The industry is in its infancy and is in a state of flux. Television is a subset of the growing entertainment business. It competes with other forms of entertainment and leisure. The latest media television, is trying to combine various leisure options like reading, watching movies, talking on the phone-into one medium. Movie based programmes which are staple of all television channels is easier and cheaper to make. More people are watching these and therefore there is a market for such programmes.
