This study traces the development of the European community, its attempt at accelerating the pace of unification known as EC92 and the implication it will have for India. The EC92 programme has proposal that gives grater freedom to the movement of all economic resources. The Indian exports are not adequately prepared for handling the bigger orders. India will need to have a careful look to cope up with the1992 challenge. In Short the study of jute industry shows that though no direct impact on this industry is expected due to the internal market programme, consumers in Europe are showing a preference for biodegradable substances. This project reveal that the repercussions of the 1992 programme are real, and India needs to take well coordinated measures to cope up with this unification move.
