The drone industry has witnessed exponential growth, emerging as a disruptive force in various sectors globally. Drones, also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), are versatile aircraft that can be remotely piloted or fly autonomously. They have found applications across diverse industries, transforming traditional practices with their unique capabilities. In recent years, the global drone market has witnessed remarkable expansion, with an estimated worth of USD 21.1 billion and a projected CAGR of 20%. India, being a rapidly developing economy, presents immense potential for the drone industry. With government support and favorable regulations, drones have found applications in surveillance, logistics, and entertainment sectors, among others. In the surveillance domain, they play a pivotal role in enhancing security and monitoring critical infrastructure. For logistics, drones offer costeffective and efficient last-mile delivery solutions, particularly in remote and challenging terrains. Additionally, the entertainment industry harnesses drones to create captivating aerial displays and captivating visuals. Building upon the dynamic drone industry, Suzuki, through its Suzuki Innovation Center in Japan, is exploring future transportation technologies for the next two decades. As part of this vision, Suzuki has engaged IIM Ahmedabad in a comprehensive drone market analysis in India. The project's core objective is to assess the viability of implementing cargo drones in the Indian market.
