India experiences different types of disasters every year including floods, cyclones, and droughts. These types of disasters not only affect human lives but they also have a considerable effect on all types of animal. For example, a devastating one million cattle can perish every year due to torrential rainfall, while a startling 44% of our livestock suffer from droughts. The 1999 Orissa cyclone- proved to be a massive trage-dy, resulting in the loss of over 10,000 lives and widespread destruction. It was equally heartbreaking in that over 300,000 animals were lost as a result. This incident underscores the pressing importance of implementing effective animal disaster management protocols, giving equal priority to both animal welfare and human concerns.
