Subject(s): DDC classification:
  • 005.73 S8D2
Summary: This second edition unifies its subject by covering abstract data types at an informal and comprehensible level. These informal abstract data types distinguish the specifications of data structures from their representation and implementation. This approach makes the material easier to understand, provides a consistent framework for studying data structures and highlights the differences between them. All implementations are in Pascal and are in the form of modules which describe multiple instances of the data type in question, so making the data types more flexible. The specification and implementation modules have been improved and a number of applications that illustrate the use of data structures have been added throughout the text. More complex applications that illustrate both the use of data types and the problem solving process are gathered together in an appendix.
