India has grown economically but has several challenges in the field of human development. To achieve inclusive growth, India needs to meet the millennium Development Goals (MDGs), to which it is committed. Challenges in India include: poverty, need for employable skills, health, sanitation, as well as infrastructure development in remote regions. The World Bank in India is working with department of public Enterprise (DPE), Government of India, to evolve Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policies and guidelines through its knowledge mission and advocacy initiative.
