  • FP 338.14 N2C6
Summary: The book examines the competitiveness of major cereals, pulses, oilseeds, cotton, sugar, coconut, and rubber using nominal protection coefficient and domestic resource cost ratio. It attempts to determine the extent of tariffs needed to protect against volatility of international prices. The tariffs needed would depend on the difference in the cost of production in a competing country. As such,it is seen that the existing bound tariffs are sufficient for most commodities. Nevertheless, efforts must be made to enhance productivity and efficiency in processing, transportation, and storage on a continuous basis.
